Spring is finally here!

With the holidays and winter chill behind us, it’s time to start thinking about how you can make the most of the summer months on the horizon.

If you’re looking forward to warmer weather and the potential it holds for pool and beach days, it’s time to consider the life-saving benefits of water safety.

At Rosen Aquatic & Fitness Center (RAFC), our swimming lessons have helped thousands of children (and adults) build confidence in and around the water, as well as develop fundamental safety skills to stay safe all year long.

Did you know spring is the perfect time to enroll your child in a water safety program?

If you need a little more convincing, take a look at our list of reasons why spring is the best time to sign your child up for swimming lessons.

Key Takeaways

  • 1. Spring Gives Kids Time to Build Skills Before Summer
  • 2. Spring Offers Great Learning Momentum
  • 3. More Consistent Weather Patterns Mean Less Disruption

    1. Spring Gives Kids Time to Build Skills Before Summer

Once the summer heat arrives, there’s no better place to be than at a cool, refreshing swimming pool or at the beach.

Enrolling your child in swim lessons in the spring gives them plenty of time to develop foundational skills before summertime.

It also gives your swimmer plenty of time to learn and practice before the peak of swim season, building confidence without having to rush through lessons.

Summer months have the highest risk of drowning incidents. Enrolling your child in spring swim lessons gives them essential safety skills before they spend all summer splashing and having fun.

Water competency is so much more than just “knowing how to swim.” Swim lessons teach children of all ages the importance of water safety and critical lifesaving skills.

Of course, we hope children will never face a situation where they’ll need to use life-saving skills. But should the need ever arise, you’ll be grateful your child is well-equipped, practiced, and confident in their water safety knowledge.

    2. Spring Offers Great Learning Momentum

In the spring, kids are still in their school-year rhythm. Take advantage of that momentum and incorporate swim lessons into their weekly plans.

The routine of the school year supports focus, consistency, and skill retention, all of which will benefit their success in swim lessons.

Additionally, families typically have more predictable schedules before the excitement of summer travel, camps, and sports begin.

The stability of predictable weekly lessons can help reinforce the retention of strong foundational skills without long gaps between lessons.

    3. More Consistent Weather Patterns Mean Less Lesson Disruption

Kids look forward to the freedom of summer all school year long.

But the season certainly comes with its own unique challenges, especially when it comes to swimming lessons.

Here in Central Florida, regular afternoon thunderstorms can make consistent after school swim lessons a challenge. Spring’s mild temperatures and drier weather make it easier to maintain a predictable and reliable lesson schedule.

Of course, there are always exceptions to the assumption of milder spring weather. For the most part, spring sees far fewer storms and ultimately less weather-related disruptions to your swim lesson schedule.
